DR. ERLINDA BELVIS
A LIFELONG ADVOCATE FOR HEALTH AND HEALING

Born on June 13 in Sampaloc, Manila, Dr. Belvis parents, Maxima and Felicisimo, instilled in her the profound values of love and dedication. Her mother made the selfiess choice to raise twelve children at home, a reflection of her immense sacrifice and commitment to family.

Growing up near the railroad tracks, she often joked that the sound of passing trains kept her parents awake, humorously attributing this to the growth of their arge family. Her father, a CPA working for the Bureau of Lands, ensured that they were always cared for, even amidst modest circumstances.

At just four years old, Belvis embarked on her academic journey at Instituto de Mujeres, where she discovered a passion for poetry. This passion later evolved into a love for swimming during her time at Mapa High School, where her dedication to athletics earned her the coveted title of Athlete of the Year.

At the age of 14, Belvis family encouraged her to pursue a career in medicine. She enrolled at Manila Central University on a scholarship and excelled, becoming one of only eight students to pass the Educational Council for Foreign Medical Graduates Exam. This significant achievement opened doors for her medical career in the USA, culminating in an internship at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital.

Her experiences at North General Hospital in Manila deepened her understanding of charity, while her time in the emergency room in the USA solidified her purpose as a dedicated doctor. Balancing her professional aspirations, she became a mother of two and has been happily married to Junn Belvis for over 50 years, all while completing her residency in psychiatry.

Dr. Belvis career flourished in San Antonio, Texas, where she worked at the San Antonio State Hospital and established a private practice. She became a certified senior lifesaver, contributing to her patients' well-being by helping them enjoy swimming activities—a small yet meaningful impact.

Passing the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology exams marked a pivotal moment in her career, solidifying her reputation in the field. She has been actively involved in community service through the Santo Niño Church and has participated in medical missions in the Philippines, providing vital care to underserved communities. Additionally, she supports NGOs dedicated to disability care and drug rehabilitation. For over 15 years, she and her husband have opened their home to couples seeking spiritual guidance, hosting Bible studies that foster growth in faith and community. Currently, she serves as the Chairman of the Board of the Philippine Women of America, supporting various FilAm organizations. Through it all, one truth remains steadfast: God is good all the time. Dr. Belvis is forever grateful for His unwavering guidance throughout her remarkable journey.
