Join us for a monumental community event as we mark our debut as a chapter of the Filipino American Historical Society! In collaboration with AAPIS for Justice, we proudly present an enlightening film screening showcasing forgotten Filipino American civil rights leaders, followed by an open community discussion led by acclaimed filmmaker Emilio J. Virata, Jr.

These films bring to light the extraordinary contributions of Delano Manongs Larry Itliong and Philip Vera Cruz, who played pivotal roles in initiating the historic Delano Grape Strike and co-founding the United Farm Workers union. Despite their significant impact on civil rights, their stories have often been overshadowed or omitted from mainstream narratives about the farmworkers' movement and the history of the United Farm Workers union. Join us as we rectify this historical oversight.
In addition, we'll explore a third film that delves into the process of claiming space to represent our rich Filipino American history. This film features prominent figures, including Eliseo Art Silva, Joel Jacinto, Myra Dumapias, Edgar Dormitorio, Mel Ilomin, Mark Pulido, Carol Ojeda-Kimbrough, Nichole Dungo, Erin Manalo-Pedro, Mike Manalo-Pedro, and Chamina Dormitorio.
