Melinda Rodriguez, PT, DPT, MSCS, LSVT-Big is one of the founders of Access Quality Therapy Services (AQTS), a specialized home health and outpatient rehabilitation agency focused on the treatment of neurological and orthopedic conditions based in San Antonio, Texas and is now a subsidiary of Chenega Corporation. She is currently the Senior Executive Director of AQTS Home Health. Melinda is also one of the founders of Outsource Strong, a business process outsourcing company and a medical call center. She is a graduate of the Doctor of Physical Therapy program from Boston University, 2006. She is a 1990 graduate of the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines, and Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy. Melinda has practiced as a physical therapist in numerous settings but is recognized as an expert in the delivery of therapy services in the home health arena. She is a Lee Silverman Voice Treatment- Big certified and a multiple sclerosis certified specialist.
In 2001, she developed the Parkinson’s Outreach Program, a comprehensive outpatient rehabilitation program for people diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, Essential Tremors, Stroke and other complex neurological movement disorders. This program is endorsed by the Alamo Area Parkinson’s Support Group, a chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, and was affiliated with Our Lady of the Lake University Harry Jersig Communication Disorders Clinic. Under her guidance, AQTS has expanded its services to include a Lee Silverman Voice Treatment Program, Falls Prevention and Balance Clinics, After Care Exercise Program, and an Alternative Exercise Program. Melinda Rodriguez served on the board of directors of several- non profit groups such as the Alamo Area Parkinson’s Support Group, APDA South Texas Chapter until 2001 to 2009, and is a professional advisory member of numerous organization. Melinda also served as the president of the Alamo Asian American Chamber of Commerce 2010-2014. She was selected to be a part of Leadership San Antonio (LSA) Class 34 in January 2009. She also served as an advisory board member of UTSA- Better Business Excellence Program 2010.
In Feb. 2012, she was selected as a chairperson for reviewers for grants for the Healthcare Innovation Challenge under the Center of Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (Innovation Center), a new initiative designed to test a wide range of innovations in communities across the country, seeking to accelerate system-wide health care transformation across the nation.
Dr. Rodriguez is a proven leader and has taken on executive roles with several organizations. Governor Abbott appointed her to be a member of the Statewide Health Coordinating Council in 2018. She was the President of SA 100 2016-2018.Melinda also served on the board of Project Mend, San Antonio, Texas and a former board member and parliamentarian of the Organization of Filipinos in Texas (OFT).
She currently serves as a board member of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and the Alamo Asian American Chamber of Commerce, was a co-chair in the Drainage Committee for the SA 2012 Bond Program, on the steering committee for San Antonio Mayor Castro!s Vision SA2020, and was the Secretary of the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners where she was appointed by Governor Perry for her second term. Melinda has also played crucial roles in San Antonio!s delegation to Shanghai!s World Expo, San Antonio!s Fitness Council, and is the representative for Texas to the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy. Melinda was awarded with the OUTSTANDING PHILIPPINE AMERICAN ENTREPRENEUR IN TEXAS 2019 by the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce Texas / Central Texas Region. She was honored with the Asian American Volunteer of the Year Award by the Philippine Women of America, May 16, 2015. She was also given one of the 40 Rubies by the University of Santo Thomas , Alumni of the Year, December, 2014. She was awarded the Business Innovation Award by the SA North Chamber of Commerce ON July 18,2012, Top Women in Leadership by San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2011 and the Healthcare Hero Award by the San Antonio Business Journal. Her company, AQTS, got awarded Fast Track, Top 27 Private Companies in SA by the SA Business Journal, July 2012 and the 8th Largest Home Health agency in San Antonio, 2012. AQTS was also awarded the Silver Level- Small Worksite Category- 2012 Healthy Workplace Recognition Program, City of SA May 2012. Melinda was the Treasurer of the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame 2008-2009.She was an inductee in the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame, Business and Finance Category, March, 2008. In 2005, Melinda is an appointee of Texas Governor Rick Perry to serve on the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners from 2005 to 2015.She currently serves as the secretary of the Texas Physical Therapy Board and the PT representative in the Executive Council of PT and OT Examiners. Also in 2005, Melinda was selected as one of San Antonio’s top entrepreneurs under 40 by the San Antonio business community and was awarded the “Rising Star Award: 40 under 40” for 2005. In 2006, she was one of the 3 awardees of the Latina Business Excellence Award sponsored by UTSA, Compass Bank, San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Telemundo.
